THOMAS COCKRUM Thomas "Chuck" Cockrum, 75, passed away Aug. 16, 2014, to be reunited with the love of his life, Bonnie. Thomas was born Feb. 3, 1939 to Mertle Simmons and Kirt Cockrum in Bakersfield, Calif. He married Bonnie Lee Reese Aug. 10, 1960, in Boulder City, where they raised two sons and a granddaughter. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, Thomas became a firefighter for the Las Vegas Fire Department. He was one of many firefighters to respond to the infamous MGM fire in 1980. He later retired from the Las Vegas Fire Department Station 8 in 1987. He loved to support the kids whether it was dirt bikes, boats, or horses. He was also a long-time member of the Boulder City Elks Lodge. Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Lee Cockrum; and son, Michael Cockrum. He is survived by his granddaughter, Ashley Cockrum; son, Pat Cockrum (Judi); grandson, Jake Cockrum (Alyssa); and granddaughters, Kylie and Morgan Cockrum. Funeral services will be at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005. Celebration of life will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the Boulder City Elks Lodge, 1217 Nevada Highway, Boulder City, NV 89005.
