1959 - 2016 Obituary Condolences
CHRISTY SPRINGGATE-HILL Glenda "Christy" Springgate-Hill passed peacefully onto her next adventure Oct. 14, 2016, after battling cancer for the last year. Christy was born March 8, 1959, to Glenda and Dewey Shive, in Yuma, Ariz. Glenda knew Christy was going to be a special someone on Earth and enjoyed watching her graduate from Yuma Union High School in 1977. She worked and attended college for a few years before meeting the love of her life Rick Hill, during Thanksgiving 1991. Christy spoke of Rick as her "Rock." She loved him fiercely and they became quite an amazing power couple when it came to activities in Boulder City. They were always together as they built a successful business, and strong family. Christy worked and managed McDonald's for most of her adult life and made many friends. She was awarded manager and loved by all those she taught the trade. Christy was most recently employed by Papillon Helicopters and she spoke highly of the family that owned and operated the company. They showed such great compassion to Christy and her family during her fierce fight to beat cancer this last year. The dictionary defines volunteerism with a photo of Christy. She was at the center to fix any need and first in line to fight any cause. She was well-respected by any and all organizations that looked to her expertise to produce events and host fundraising. Although no records were kept, it is estimated she generated over a quarter of a million dollars in revenue for those many organizations. Her tireless efforts had her riding a golf cart through the Boulder City Barbeque Challenge in May, just days after treatments and out of the hospital. She was even writing the script for the annual tree lighting just the day before her passing. To so many, she is a hero. To some, she was the greatest mother on Earth. She loved her children and grandchildren with an unconditional love. Her son, Taylor, and his fiancee, Alyssa, were constantly by her side. Her stepdaughter, Rochelle, mother of Christy's three grandchildren, Nolan, Jasmine and Serenity, were the bright spot in her life. Christy had an amazing support system behind her that consisted a hundreds of friends like the Boulder City Girls Club, but also lots of family. Until they meet again, she leaves behind her mother and stepfather, Glenda and Chuck Persing; and siblings, Kay Loving, Randy Shive, Lee Shive, Michael Persing, Andrea Persing, Kathy Cruse, Billy Shive, Jerry Shive; and Jessie Coolbaugh. Her celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at Boulder Creek Golf Club, with a family and friend's luncheon there to follow. After the luncheon, friends and family will gather at Jack's Place to share stories and laughs of all their fond memories of Christy Springgate-Hill. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations to help pay for medical expenses be sent to the Boulder Dam Credit Union, Account No. 76429008 for Glenda Springgate-Hill.
