DONNA DUNAWAY Obituary
DONNA DUNAWAY Donna Y. Dunaway, 88, passed away peacefully December 2, 2017, at the Boulder City Hospital Long Term Care Unit. Donna was born in Denver, Colorado. She left there at age 12 with her parents and five siblings moving to Fresno, California. Donna graduated from Fresno High School and was employed with the Fresno Bee Newspaper. She met her husband, of 68 years, Melvin G. Dunaway, who was employed with Southern California Edison Company and in 1956 moved to Boulder City. By that time, Gary and Beverly were added to the family. In 1957, Jennifer was added to the family. Donna was busy with babies and school kids along with the household duties. Donna began her career in food service preparation and management at the original Boulder City Hospital, moved to the new hospital and then onto North Las Vegas Hospital. Donna also worked at the head cook for the Senior Nutrition Program at the Boulder City Senior Center for many years. She was always grateful for the many volunteers that helped with food preparation in the kitchen and delivery of the lunches. Donna was a 50-yeare member of Eastern Star and was Worth Matron 1971-1972. Donna was also a 50-year member of Grace Community Church and a past president of Women's Association. She loved to sew, knit, crochet and play Canasta and Bridge. Donna loved Boulder City, stating often that she lived in the best place in America! She is survived by her husband, Melvin Dunaway; son, Gary Dunaway (Janet); daughters, Beverly D. Schaefgen (Mike) and Jennifer Dunaway; grandson, Michael Schaefgen and granddaughter, Kali Ann Dunaway. She is also survived by her youngest sister, Michelle Saleh (Dennis); niece, Carla Krum (Keith); and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, December 22, at Grace Community Church, 1150 Wyoming St., Boulder City.
