EDNA FILSON Obituary
EDNA FILSON Edna Madeline Richards Filson peacefully passed away December 20, 2017, in her sleep. She was born January 20, 1921, to Harley and Letha Richards of Martinsburg, West Virginia. Edna graduated from Nursing School in 1942, she then joined the U.S. Navy to serve during World War II as a Navy Nurse. While in the U.S. Navy, she met Calvin D. Filson and, shortly thereafter, they were married March 5, 1945. Edna enjoyed the adventure of traveling extensively with Calvin as his career with TWA took them all over the world. After his retirement, they continued their passion for travel in their motor home that took them all over the United States. Edna had a passion for playing Bridge, which she continued weekly up to the week she passed away. She also enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially reading to them and teaching them to play cards. Edna is survived by her three daughters, Dana Stauffer of Boulder City, Leah Richards of Kissimee, Florida, and Mary Filson-Summers and her husband, Joe, of Sealy, Texas. She was blessed with seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, who all lovingly called her "Neeny." Funeral services will be at noon Friday, January 12, at Grace Community Church, 1150 Wyoming St. Boulder City, NV 89005. Burial services will follow at 1:20 p.m., at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City.
