JACK MCCOMB Obituary
JACK MCCOMB Jack McComb, age 73, of Boulder City, passed away March 17, 2017, in Henderson. He was born Dec. 6, 1943, in Galveston, Texas, to Barbara and Jack McComb. Jack married Judith Boggs March 10, 1979, in Sacramento, Calif. They moved from Sacramento to Boulder City in 1980. Jack was a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs and Southern Nevada Fire Chiefs Association. He loved golf and the New York Yankees. Jack worked for the Department of Defense, Nellis Air Force Base as Fire Chief from 1980 until he retired in 1993. Jack had a wonderful and memorable career in the fire service of 36 years. During 1980, Jack was instrumental in inviting the Valley Fire Departments to join together in mutual aid programs. The Fire Chiefs met once a month to discuss their issues and commitment to assist each other as needed. The Valley Fire Departments included City of Las Vegas, Clark County, Henderson, Boulder City, and Nellis Air Force Base. They were very effective during the MGM, Hilton Hotel and Pepcon disasters. Jack is survived by his wife, Judith McComb; three sons, Mark McComb, Brian (Kristin) Shelton and Travis McComb; sister, Mary Louise Miller; and seven grandchildren, Jack, Dylan, Aria, Kaila, Ian, Ashlynn and Siena. Memorial Mass will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, April 6, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, 1399 San Felipe Drive, Boulder City. Burial following at 2 p.m. at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City.
