JAY RICHEY Jr. Obituary
JAY RICHEY JR. Jay G. Richey Jr. was on a mission to visit 200 countries when he unexpectedly took his last journey March 21, 2017 to a destination that was not on his list. Jay was born Aug. 2, 1943, in Denison, Iowa, and attended college at Northern Arizona University. He was a captain in the U.S. Marine Corps, served four years in Vietnam, and was awarded a Purple Heart. Jay spent his career as a teacher in Clark County, and was part of the original faculty that opened Garrett Jr. High in Boulder City. Jay loved to travel (he did manage to visit 145 countries) and enjoyed sports of all kinds. Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Inez Richey; and his wife, Diana Adams. He is survived by his stepdaughter, Leslie of Reno; four first cousins of Iowa; and a large number of other family and friends. Celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 22, in the pavilion at Boulder Creek Golf Club, 1501 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jay's honor to the Southern Nevada Retired Teachers Association, SNERTA, 9319 Wilderness Glen Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89178 or the Boulder City Republican Women, BCRW, P.O. Box 60264, Boulder City, NV 89006.
