JOHN FOY John Franey Foy, 90, passed away Dec. 13, 2016, at Lakeview Terrace of Boulder City. He was born March 12, 1926, in Silver City, N.M., to Thomas and Mary Veronica Foy. Franey grew up on the Foy Ranch between Santa Clara (central) and Bayard, N.M. He attended St. Mary's Academy, Silver City, N.M., St. Joseph's College and Military Academy, Hays, Kan., and St. Louis University, St. Louis. He joined the U.S. Army and served during World War II. He worked at the Grant County State Bank (Bank of America), sold life insurance, developed several subdivisions in Bayard as managing partner of the Foy Partnership, was a proprietor of the Foy Lumber Company and a cowboy on the Foy Ranch. His interests included book, stamp and coin collecting. He was a member of the American Legion, Bayard Lion's Club, Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and was a friend of Bill Wilson for over 50 years. Franey retired to Boulder City in 1980 and was an active member of Vernon Howard's New Life Church and Literary Foundation. A lifelong seeker, Franey never lost interest in learning, had a great sense of humor, enjoyed life one day at a time, maintained strong convictions and loved his family. John Franey Foy was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Mary Veronica Foy; his greatuncle, John Franey "Freany;" his brother, Thomas Paul (Joan Carney) Foy; his sisters, Rosemary Foy (Joseph) Stewart and Winifred Ann Foy (Gus Peter III) Momsen; his spouses, Rosemary Tolin Foy and Maria Navarro Foy Price; his sons, John Franey Foy Jr. and Patrick Tolin Foy; his daughter, Rosemary Catherine Foy (Frank) Mendoza; and his "compadre", Alfredo Corral. John Franey Foy is survived by his daughters, Mary Margaret Foy of Deming, N.M., and Kathleen Elizabeth (Carl Guse) Foy of Albuquerque, N.M.; his son, Edward Michael Foy of Albuquerque; his grandchildren, Sean Terence (Erika Carson Wilmot) Cleary and Bridget Kathleen Cleary of Albuquerque; his great-grandchildren, Rowan Oak Clarence (Ian George Curry) Curry and Clover Ann Cleary of Albuquerque; his cousin, Joe Foy of San Pedro, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services were held at Lakeview Terrace with Deacon Tim officiating and New Life Church and Literary Foundation in Boulder City. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, at Memory Lane Cemetery, Silver City, N.M. The family will greet friends and relatives with a brisket luncheon at the Bayard Lion's Club following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, 2510 San Pedro NE, Suite 212, Albuquerque, NM 87110, to the or anonymously in the basket at a meeting of Friends of Bill.
