BERT D HANSEN Bert Hansen slipped the surly bonds of earth on April 10, 2020. He was born on September 11, 1940 at his parent's farmhouse outside Sloan, Iowa to Harry A. Hansen, Sr. and Edith Orcutt Hansen. He graduated from Estelline High School in South Dakota in 1958 and received a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1974. Bert was vendor for the Business Enterprise Program for the Bureau of Service to the Blind and Visually Impaired, State of Nevada since 1975. He operated several concessions at Hoover Dam over those years. Bert was very active in the Boulder City community over the years and many other organizations. He was the president of the Chamber of Commerce in 1985. He was also very active in the local Rotary Clubs. He had the distinction of being president of both the Boulder City Rotary Club and the Sunrise Rotary Club. He was also one of the founding members of the BC Sunrise Club. Bert had a passion for learning, reading, travel, antiques and helping others. He was generous as well as a mentor to many, believing any one can rise above their circumstances. He never let is sight impairment get in the way of anything. Bert is survived by his brother Harry Jr. (Chiquita) Hansen of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and numerous nieces, nephews, cousin and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Ellen Hansen and Helen Kinyon. Bert will be buried next to his parents and grandparents in Sloan, Iowa. A local memorial service will be held at a future date.
