DOUGLAS H. McHAM Douglas H. McHam, 85, passed away on Monday, September 24, 2018, in Henderson, Nev., after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in 1933 in Falfurrias, TX. Doug grew up in southern Texas where he and his brothers and sisters worked and played in the plentiful fruit farms in the region. In 1951, he enlisted in the Air Force where he served for 20 years and attained the rank of Master Sergeant. Doug served in both the Korean and Vietnam wars before retiring from the military and moving on to work a few different jobs. He ultimately came to work for the U. S. Treasury Department and worked there until retiring in 1993, after serving as a civil servant for 21 years. His third career was his retirement spent in Boulder City, Nev., where he spent most of his time with the American Legion Post 31, bowling, and taking care of his ailing wife, Marilyn. Despite fighting cancer twice, his last couple years of life he still managed to help out at the Post, enjoy bowling, and even made some road trips in his RV where he visited family and went back to the town of his birth for the first time in over 60 years. Along the way, Doug made many friends, was loved, and will be missed by everyone. He was a Patriot, a devoted family man, and a true gentleman. Doug was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marilyn. He is survived by his son Paul and wife Ronette; son Douglas P. and wife Larissa and their daughter Scarlett; and his sister Sue Driggers. At Doug's request there will be no services. His family interred his remains at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery beside his beloved wife. In lieu of flowers, please donate time or money to any of the American Legion's posts and programs.
