Obituary Condolences

EARL "STAN" HAWKES Earl Stanley "Stan" Hawkes, 80, of Boulder City, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018, in Boulder City. Stan was born in 1937, in Tacoma, Washington, to Frieda and Walter Louis Hawkes. He graduated from South Kitsap High School, earned a B.S. in Mathematics from University of Washington, and earned his MBA from Western Michigan University. He served in the U.S. Air Force, then worked for Boeing and Chrysler on the space program in the late 1960s. He was stationed in the firing room at Cape Canaveral for several historic NASA missions, including Apollo 11. Stan lived in Pascagoula, Mississippi for many years, working for U.S. Navy/SUPSHIP until his retirement in 1995. After retirement, he volunteered for the Department of Fish and Wildlife Service, a job he loved and was very passionate about, winning Mississippi Sandhill Crane National Wildlife Service volunteer of the year award in 2000 and Regional Director outstanding volunteer services award in 2003. Stan is survived by his wife, Ruby; daughter, Leslie Brookins (Jeff) of Kansas City, Missouri; son, J. Walter Hawkes (Lesley Martin) of New York, New York; and grandchildren, Riley, Lauren, and Charlotte Brookins of Kansas City, Missouri. In keeping with the wishes of the family, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Stan's name to BCH LTC Activities and mailed to Boulder City Hospital, Attn: Salome Jarvis, 901 Adams Blvd., Boulder City, NV 89005.
