1921 - 2018 Obituary Condolences
FLOYD WOODS Floyd Homer Woods, age 96, of Boulder City, passed away February 18, 2018. He was born September 7, 1921, in Mona, Montana, and raised in Nampa, Idaho. Floyd served his country in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II, participating in combat operations aboard the USS Portland and the USS Twining. During his wartime service, he achieved the rank of Chief Fire Controlman. During a shore tour in 1943, Floyd met Dorothy 'Dottie" Jackowska and they were married November 3, 1945. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage prior to her passing in 2007. After leaving the service, Floyd worked for Southern California Edison Company until his retirement in 1983. Floyd was a multi-talented man and loved to work with his hands. He enjoyed the outdoors, wood working and tying flies. He loved fishing, traveling, running and helping friends and family with all manner of home and auto projects. Floyd particularly delighted in his role as grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a happy and content member of the Boulder City community for almost 50 years. Floyd is survived by his four children, Ed Woods of Phoenix, Arizona, Carl (Donna) Woods of Gardnerville, Bruce (Jeanne) Woods of Chico, California, and Mona (John) Stammetti of Las Vegas; five grandchildren, Wallace, Tyler, Marci, Richard and Brianna; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, March 1, at Boulder City Family Mortuary, 833 Nevada Highway, Suite 1, Boulder City, NV 89005. Funeral service will be at 9:20 a.m. Friday, March 2, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, where he will be laid to rest with his wife, Dottie.
