1934 - 2018
BARBARA LINK Barbara Jean Link, 83, died suddenly Tuesday, November 6, 2018. Her final day this side of heaven consisted of voting, getting a haircut and dining out with a good friend, Frank Munoz. Barbara peacefully slipped into eternal rest on the ride home. Barbara was born December 5, 1934 to Herman and Mary (Waychoff) Hessenius in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She grew up in Des Moines and attended East High school, where she met the love of her life, Noel E. Link. They were married for 54 years. Barbara worked numerous jobs, but primarily served as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She moved to Boulder City to be closer to her daughter after the death of Noel in 2006. She was preceded in death by her husband, Noel; sons, Darwin and Dennis; and her parents. Barbara is survived by her children, Diane (Mario) Hernandez of Boulder City and Douglas (Debra) Link of Vallejo, Calif.; her brother, Alan Hessenius of Marshall Town, Iowa; grandchildren, JC Niday III, Alyssa (Gabe) Brueningsen, Audra (Michael) Ortega, Jacob (Link) Mather and Jacob's brother, Derrick Mather; and great-grandchildren, Eliana, Abigail, Emily, Oliver, and Elijah. Burial will be private at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Des Moines, Iowa. A celebration of life will be scheduled in early 2019 at Boulder City United Methodist Church where she served God faithfully alongside her church family, whom she cherished greatly.

Life takes many turns. People come into your life, and people go. You don't really know why? It just happens. You wish you could keep them all close, but you can't. But you can and do love them all your days, even if you never see them again. They stay in your heart. Mom always said we did the best we could. I believe she did, and it was good enough. Love is eternal.
